January 30th, 2011
In years past, on this particular date, I've made note of the fact that today, January 30th, is my birthday. Once again, that is true. Happy to be here. Sorry--not enough cake to go around (hey, with me, there never is!).

In lieu of a present, anyone care to buy a card (or three)?

I'm always trying to come up with some new types of pics for these midget masterpieces, and I think you'll catch on pretty quickly as to the pair of approaches I've embarked on here (with the second being rather appropriate, given the announcement found in today's opening paragraph).

Here's your Ebay link, friends!

Over at Robert Goodin's exemplary website, Covered, he's just posted my redo of Bob Brown's cover for 1960's TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #53--take a look!

Thanks for the good wishes, Robert--and thanks for doing such a bang-up job!

SPIDER-MAN versus The SINISTER SIX!!
January 22nd, 2011
If you found yourself deep in the bowels of the earth fighting The Mole Man--like the Avengers did back in January of 1965 on the cover of their 12th issue (originally drawn by Jack Kirby and Chic Stone), well, YOU'D be pretty relieved to have a charter member that carted around an enchanted hammer with him wherever he went too! Thanks, Thor!

If you wanna see my redo way larger--not to mention the original--click the accompanying image. Just try and avoid starting a cave-in, wouldja? That hammer ain't THAT good!...

I'm proud as proud can be to announce that an interview I did a few months back with the gang over at Fandom Planet has been chosen to be rebroadcast representing the year's best Q&A! That either says a lot about me--or the overall paucity of their guest roster. Shhh--let me have MY illusions, okay? Thanks fellas, and I hope to come on for a follow-up before too long!

Here's the link if you missed it the first time, or want to hear it again (yeah, right...)!

Ever wonder what it might look like to find Spider-man fighting alongside Dr. Strange against The Sinister Six in a mystical dimension--all with knee squiggles?

Wonder no more!

Click the image below to view it larger, and go here if you're interested in the ebay auction!

Ebay!

Adieu!

I watched one of my all time favorite movies with daughter Julie last night, Billy Wilder's 1942 comedy, "The Major And The Minor" (his American directorial debut). 30 year old Ginger Rogers seemed just as convincing--and absolutely adorable--pretending to be a 12 year old as she did to me when I first caught this very funny flick at age 10! Highly recommended!

HAPPY 2011, EVERYONE!
And HAPPY 8th ANNIVERSARY to HEMBECK.Com!!
We launched this site back on the first day of 2003, which makes this particular corner of the internet eight years old! Wow! It often seems both a much longer AND a much shorter time--guess that's my own personal time paradox, huh?

These days, as opposed to earlier times, not a whole lot of written blogging is posted here abouts. My apologies. But there ARE quiet a few pics to feast your eyes upon--and even if I AM constantly trying to peddle 'em to the highest bidder, hey, the looking is free, so I hope you enjoy the window shopping!

Please stick with us in 2011, friends--we may very well have a few surprises up our sleeves!
